Supported Housing Bill

Following the introduction into law of the Supported Housing Bill in June 2023, the Government has now launched the long-awaited consultation in preparation for its implementation.

Stakeholders have been invited to submit their responses to the consultation here: Supported Housing regulation: consultation – GOV.UK with the consultation closing on 15th May 2025.

Key areas being consulted on include:

  • Implementation Measures including the framework for the National Supported Housing Standards and the principles that will underpin them
  • Drafting of regulations and guidance
  • The proposed Licensing Scheme and how it will work
  • Linking Housing Benefit to the new legislation
  • Defining care, support and supervision within Housing Benefit Regulations
  • How to link the new regulations to systems in Wales and Scotland

Part one of the consultation – the implementation of measures in the Supported Housing act 2023 – applies to England only, whilst Part two – housing benefit changes – applies to Great Britain. It is therefore imperative that any and all stakeholders have their say so that we can help shape the future of the sector
